What positions qualify as research? Are there specific policies I need to be aware of when mentoring students?
AURA Team

Generally, research involves an investigation by a student who makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to a discipline or activity. The position should provide a clear educational benefit to the student and assist in their career development. Research activities should be directly mentored by an experienced academic (professor, post-doctoral researcher, or graduate student) who advises the student on meeting the goals of the project. Research positions can be paid, volunteered, or conducted for academic credit, such as a research apprenticeship. However, they typically have a flexible duration and time commitment and do not require extensive previous experience. If you want to discuss whether your position is appropriate for AURA, please email SDaley@warner.rochester.edu for clarity.
